About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the oldest vineyards of the La Meirana estate, planted between 1953 and 1955 in the municipality of Gavi. The vineyards lie at 300–350 m on limestone and marl soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into small wooden crates and fermented in steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests on its fine lees in stainless-steel tanks for 85 months.
Tasting profile
It has an intense aroma, pronounced flavour and a well-defined structure.
Vintage notes
In 2009, flowering proceeded steadily during the first ten days of June. A hot summer followed, with wide differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, contributing structure, flavour and aromatic intensity.
Label / history
Vecchia Annata is produced only in exceptional, very rare years.
