About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from a vineyard planted in 2002 on the border with Bolgheri. Its complex, mineral-rich soils comprise clay, silt and alluvial sand.

Grapes

The 2012 blend is predominantly Cabernet Franc, with Merlot and a very small proportion of Petit Verdot.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested by hand from the last week of August through 3 October and placed in 15 kg crates. They were sorted on a vibrating table, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks for 3–4 weeks at 28 °C. Malolactic fermentation was carried out 20% in oak barrels and 80% in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine matured for 16 months in new French oak barrels, followed by a further 12 months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Richly textured.
