History
1959 — Foundation in Lizzano
Cantina San Gaetano was founded in Lizzano in 1959.
2016 — Acquisition by Cantine Due Palme
Cantine Due Palme acquired and incorporated Cantina San Gaetano in 2016. The acquisition extended the cooperative’s activity into Primitivo di Manduria DOP: from that year, Primitivo di Manduria became part of its production. The principal references associated with this development were San Gaetano Primitivo di Manduria DOP and San Gaetano Primitivo di Manduria Riserva DOP.
Following the incorporation, production was integrated into Cantine Due Palme’s central facilities at Cellino San Marco, where the cooperative conducts vinification, ageing, bottling and wine storage.
Terroir
Cantina San Gaetano is associated with Lizzano, in the province of Taranto, and with the production area of Primitivo di Manduria DOP.
Winemaking
Following the 2016 acquisition, Cantina San Gaetano was integrated into Cantine Due Palme’s centralized production structure. Vinification, ageing, bottling and wine storage take place at the cooperative’s central cellar in Cellino San Marco. The acquisition brought Primitivo di Manduria DOP into the cooperative’s production portfolio.
