About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Barbera comes from estate vineyards in Piobesi d’Alba, on the hillside facing the winery. The soils are predominantly sandy, with substantial limestone and clay.

Grapes

100% Barbera. The variety has been present at Tenuta Carretta since the early twentieth century.

Vinification

Traditional red-wine vinification includes approximately ten days of maceration. The wine is then racked.

Ageing

The technical sheet describes approximately six months in stainless steel followed by about twelve months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red with violet nuances. The fine, complex bouquet combines ripe red fruit, violet and Marasca cherry. The palate is velvety, elegant, savoury and balanced, with lively acidity and a rich, persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with appetizers, pasta, roast beef, barbecue, fresh cheeses or medium-aged cheeses.
