About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Rhine Riesling grows on 2.12 ha at approximately 600 m above sea level in Cissone, Alta Langa.

100% Rhine Riesling.

Vinification

Whole grapes are pressed in a pneumatic press while the must is protected from oxidation. After a few hours of skin contact, fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats at 16°C.

Ageing

The wine remains on its fine lees in stainless steel for eight months. It is bottled in June following the harvest and receives at least another 18 months of bottle maturation.

Technical data

Langhe DOC Riesling. First produced in 2019. Formats: 0.375 L, 0.75 L, 1.5 L, 3 L, 6 L, 9 L and 12 L.

Tasting profile

Golden yellow with green nuances. The intense, distinctly mineral bouquet offers green apple and dried flowers with a spicy finish. Crisp and dry on the palate, it is elegant, savoury and lively, with a firm acidic vein and marked personality.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 10–12°C. Suitable for aperitifs and appetizers, shellfish, fish dishes, pasta and risotto, or throughout a meal.

Label / history

Riesling had been studied experimentally in Alta Langa since 1975. After vineyard acreage declined during the demographic changes of the 1960s, renewed viticulture demonstrated the area’s potential. “Campofranco” recalls the return of vines to land that had remained uncultivated for a long time and was therefore considered “franca,” or unused.
