About this wine
Grapes
Several vines of the unusual Carica l'Asino variety, also known as Caricalasino, were discovered at a farmhouse in Valle Asinari. They had been planted from cuttings brought by friends of the previous owners from Acqui Terme. This ancient Ligurian grape adapted well to Valle Asinari and is now considered native to Piedmont. Only four estates, including Carussin, grow the variety today.

Label / history
The wine's story began in 2005, when Carussin bought the Valle Asinari farmhouse. Its previous owner, born in 1922, explained that she and her husband had planted the Carica l'Asino cuttings found there.
The grape's name literally means “Load the Donkey” and recalls the time when donkeys were the only means of transporting grapes from steep slopes. The name also reflects Bruna Ferro's love of donkeys.
