About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine is made in South Tyrol, near Lake Caldaro. The vineyards lie about 230 metres above sea level on sandy clay soils with limestone gravel and a high humus content. This combination gives the wines juiciness and structure. The nearby lake moderates the climate: warm days allow aromas to develop, and cool nights preserve acidity and freshness.
Grapes
Lagrein is an indigenous variety typical of Alto Adige. Merlot brings softness, roundness and ripe fruit; Lagrein adds structure, fine tannins and a gentle spicy depth. The two are harvested and vinified separately to preserve the character of each.
Vinification
The pale colour comes from very brief skin contact directly in the press. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine is aged on fine lees, which adds body and a smooth, cohesive texture without making the style heavy.
Tasting profile
An elegant, fresh and expressive rosé with an Alpine character. It stays lively and mineral, with bright freshness and well-defined structure, and a delicate, pale colour. It is versatile and food-friendly.
Label / history
The name "Sallie" refers to Katharina von Sall, the woman through whom Sallegg Castle passed to the family that laid the foundations of today's estate in the sixteenth century.
