About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Chianti takes its name from the area south of Florence.

Grapes

Sangiovese, the main variety, has been known since the 16th century. Its name is said to mean "the blood of Jupiter" in Latin. It gives a rich, juicy, sweet flavour.

Vinification

Made by a traditional method that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years.

Tasting profile

Deep, pleasantly tannic palate. Italian winemakers say true Chianti shows notes of pure floral honey and real country bread.

Label / history

The Sangiovese name is traced to Latin, meaning "the blood of Jupiter".
