About this wine

Grapes

Sangiovese forms the basis of the blend. Other red varieties contribute complexity and balance the wine’s high acidity.

Tasting profile

An intense, fruity character with high acidity, balanced by the other varieties in the blend.

Label / history

Chianti was traditionally associated with short, rounded bottles wrapped in straw, known as fiaschi (fiasco). They first appeared in the Middle Ages, when glass was expensive and imperfect and bottles were consequently fragile. The tradition continues, although the wine is also sold in standard bottles.
