About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in Castello Banfi's vineyards in Tuscany.
Grapes
The wine is produced in two portions: 70% from grapes harvested in mid-September and 30% from grapes picked in the second half of October after drying slightly on the vines.
Vinification
The first 70% of the harvest ferments at the winery at 28–30 °C for two to three weeks. The remaining 30% is then added for a further four weeks of fermentation.
Ageing
Twenty per cent of the wine is aged in 10-year-old barriques.
