About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Gallina is one of the emblematic vineyards of Neive. Ceretto cultivates only a few rows—0.31 ha—at the foot of the village, with Neive above and the village cemetery opposite. The small holding permits close attention to individual details.

The soils are marly-calcareous, with abundant light-coloured sand. They are richer in organic matter than Ceretto’s other Barbaresco parcels. This prompted vineyard-specific management, including new green-manure species and tailored agricultural practices rather than imposing methods developed elsewhere.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Tasting profile

The wine is rich and savoury. Its deep bouquet moves between floral and fruit notes, completed by suggestions of undergrowth. The palate is inviting and satisfying, retaining firmness and definition; the texture is chewy yet refined.

Label / history

The parcel was a recent acquisition when the technical profile was prepared. Its expressive strength convinced Ceretto to release the wine from the first vinification, expanding the estate’s representation of Barbaresco terroirs.
