About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from Cleto Chiarli’s own vineyards. The Chiarli family owns more than 90 ha of vineyards in the Lambrusco DOC production area.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and gently pressed. The must is clarified, then fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 °C. A second fermentation takes place in small cuvées, producing the lightly sparkling, low-pressure style known in Italy as frizzante.

Label / history

Cleto Chiarli founded the company in 1860 after managing Trattoria dell'Artigliere in central Modena, where he made Lambrusco for the restaurant’s regular customers. Their positive reception prompted him to establish the winery and produce Lambrusco for wider sale. In 2002, Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli decided to build a new winery at the Azienda Agricola Castelvetro estate. The facility began producing Lambrusco under the “Cleto Chiarli” brand in 2003.
