About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes came from a 6 ha vineyard in Montefiascone, at 300 m above sea level. The loose soils are rich in minerals. The vineyard is planted at a density of 4,200 vines per hectare, and the vines have an average age of 16 years.
Grapes
The grapes for Ferentano were carefully selected.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested between 28 September and 15 October. Before fermentation, they underwent cryomaceration to accentuate their varietal character. The initial fermentation took place in steel tanks at 13–15 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.
Ageing
After malolactic fermentation, the wine remained in oak barrels for four months.
Vintage notes
Good weather in 2008 produced grapes with an excellent balance of sugar and acidity, full aromas and ample body.
