About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from free-standing, 80-year-old vines on a 2 ha plot on the northern side of Mount Etna, at 650 m above sea level. The altitude and terroir slow ripening, allowing the grapes to develop rich tannins and a distinctive aroma.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand during the middle ten days of October, then crushed and macerated at 28 °C for 18–21 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 25 hl barrels and large tonneaux.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in 25 hl barrels and large tonneaux.
Label / history
Feudo di Mezzo and Guardiola, two single-vineyard wines from the northern side of Mount Etna, joined the Alta Mora range in 2016.
