About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from a small 5 ha vineyard in Contrada Camarda, the first vineyard on the estate to receive organic certification approximately 30 years ago. The site lies at 150 m on calcareous soil. The trellised vineyard has 4,400 vines/ha, with an average vine age of 30 years and a yield of 100 quintals/ha.

Grapes

100% Aglianico.

Vinification

Harvest takes place in late October. Red vinification includes a long maceration with the skins and complete malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

The wine matures in stainless-steel tanks and for six months in small used wooden barrels, followed by extended bottle ageing.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14.5%. Production: 10,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Bright ruby red with vivid reflections. Intense cherry, plum and blackcurrant aromas mingle with rose and violet, followed by pepper, tobacco and herbaceous nuances. The palate is dry and medium-bodied, with well-defined, integrated tannins and a balanced interplay of freshness and savoury character.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with roasted red meats, mushrooms and truffles, game, legumes and aged cheeses. It also suits baked first courses, including lasagna, pasta with ragù and baked pasta.
