About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow along the coast of the municipality of Marsala and inland in the province of Trapani. The vineyards lie above 300 m on dry, low-yielding red soils rich in sandstone. The vines are traditionally trained as small trees. Winters are mild, while summers are very hot and dry.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand late in the ripening season, when they have a high sugar content. They undergo gentle pressing intended to preserve components from the skins, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. Fortified must, concentrated wine and brandy are then added.

Ageing

The wine ages for at least 24 months in oak barrels of various sizes, followed by at least three months in bottle in a cool room.
