About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The estate’s vineyards in Cannubi cover about 2.5 ha. The vines grow at elevations of 185 and 350 m on predominantly limestone and marl soils with some sand. These soils and the local microclimate contribute to the wine’s elegance. The vineyards are managed with integrated pest management and biological methods, with an emphasis on environmental care.

Tasting profile

The aroma is fragrant and inviting, with a broad range of nuances. The palate is lively and elegant.

Label / history

The Pira family appears in local parish records from the seventeenth century and began making wine under its own name in the late nineteenth century. Gigi Pira worked with fruit from Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Via Nuova, emphasizing the importance of origin. He crushed grapes by foot and avoided technical equipment in the cellar. After Luigi Pira, the family’s last heir, died in 1980, his sisters were unable to continue the business. The Boschis family acquired the company in 1981 and updated its winemaking methods.
