About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow in Abruzzo, in the province of Chieti, near the medieval Ortona Castle, on steep slopes facing west and southwest. The soils are clay-limestone, which gives the wine its distinctive minerality. Quality wine has been produced here since the fourteenth century, and the Farnese winery continues that tradition.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation runs at a constant 12 °C for 20 days, with careful control at every stage.
Ageing
The young wine ages on its lees for 4 months in stainless steel tanks, which enhances its flavour, aroma and texture.
Tasting profile
Complex and full-flavoured, with a bright straw-yellow colour. The flavours are well balanced, giving the wine an elegant, refined character, and a distinctive minerality.
