About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from several vineyards on the northern and northeastern slopes of Etna. The vines are old and ungrafted, averaging 50 years of age.
Vinification
Fermentation uses native yeasts and takes place in contact with the grape skins for around 50 days. No sulfites are added, or only a minimal amount.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in neutral epoxy resin tanks of 2,500 to 7,000 litres.
Tasting profile
A rich, aromatic wine, a classic and traditional expression of pure Nerello Mascalese, with plenty of depth and intensity.
Serving and pairing
Let the wine breathe for at least 15–30 minutes before serving.
