About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie on Etna’s volcanic mountain slopes, whose dark soils are rich in minerals. The vines average more than 50 years of age and are farmed organically, without chemicals or herbicides, in Sicily’s microclimate.
Grapes
A traditional field blend led by Nerello Mascalese, with local varieties including Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante Bouschet, Minella and Uva Francesca.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed. Fermentation uses wild yeasts, followed by around 30 days of skin contact. The wine is filtered before bottling.
Ageing
Ageing takes place in neutral, epoxy-lined vessels with capacities ranging from 2,500 to 7,000 litres.
Tasting profile
A traditional, aromatic and elegant wine with impressive structure and a distinctive personality.
Label / history
The first vintage was released in 2003. Annual production does not exceed 35,000 bottles.
