About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Lagrein fruit comes from vineyards with clay and gravel soils. J. Hofstatter’s vineyards extend across both sides of the Adige Valley, covering several climatic zones and elevations from 250 to 750 m above sea level. Their soils vary with the geology of each site, and only organic fertilizers are used.

Vinification

After harvest, the grapes are crushed and fermented at a controlled temperature for 10 days, with regular punch-downs of the cap.

Label / history

The winery has borne the name of its founder, Josef Hofstatter, for more than a century. During that period, the family has progressively expanded its vineyards and cellars, combining established family practices with new ideas.
