About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Vigna Castel Rechtenthal is a precisely delimited single vineyard in Tramin-Söll, on a gravelly hill above Rechtenthal Castle at the foot of Monte Roen. The site lies at 350–410 m, faces south and east, and reaches gradients of 60%. It occupies an ancient dolomitic alluvial cone shaped by glaciers around 32,000 years ago. Its dry, freely draining gravel-and-sand soils include limestone-rich marine sediments. Cool air descending along the Höllentalbach stream further shapes the site. These conditions moderate vine growth and slow its physiology, supporting freshness and acidity.

Grapes

Gewürztraminer. Alto Adige DOC Riserva.

Vinification

The grapes are entirely hand-picked. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel.

Ageing

Ageing and maturation take place in stainless steel, with bâtonnage.

Tasting profile

A fresh, elegant and precise Gewürztraminer, distinguished by lightness, a taut profile and lively acidity.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10 °C as an aperitif or with crustaceans and Asian cuisine.

Label / history

The vineyard has been vinified separately since 2022. Its style presents Gewürztraminer in a leaner, fresher and more vibrant form.
