About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Vigna Oberkerschbaum lies in UGA Buchholz near the border between Alto Adige and Trentino. The southwest-facing site rises from 770 to 800 m and has a 25% gradient. It is among Alto Adige’s highest Sauvignon vineyards. Strong sunlight at this elevation and the predominantly volcanic terrain create an alpine microclimate that encourages balanced growth and naturally moderates vine vigour.
The vineyard page characterizes the soil as volcanic porphyry, while the technical description gives greater detail: porphyry-rich, sandy gravelly loam containing limestone and dolomite. These conditions contribute marked minerality and refreshing acidity.
