About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Nero grows in a southwest-facing vineyard on poor soils rich in granite and Eocene sandstone. Alpine influences combine with the mild Adriatic climate to provide favourable conditions for the variety.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in September. Fermentation lasts one month at 25 °C, followed by maceration in large oak barrels to extract tannin and develop deeper colour and greater aromatic complexity.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in small French oak barrels, which contribute softness, a rounded texture and cocoa notes.
Tasting profile
Elegant, juicy, playful and delicate, with expressive berry fruit, warm toasted nuances and hints of cocoa. Fine, chalky tannins accompany a gentle, balanced palate with a light touch and rounded texture.
Serving and pairing
Allow the wine to breathe for 15–20 minutes before serving. Pair with traditional European dishes, fish or dishes made with white truffle.
Label / history
Following a family tradition, Silvio Jermann named Red Angel after his eldest son, Angelo. The first vintage was produced in 1986.
