About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Ronco del Fortino and Ronco San Giovanni, described as the only two hills in the Isonzo Valley. The vineyards face southwest and northeast, with soils typical of Collio, composed mainly of granite and Eocene sandstone. Adriatic winds produce marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, supporting aromatic development and lively acidity. Yields are well below the Friuli average.
Vinification
The varieties are grown, harvested and fermented together as a field blend. The grapes are picked around two weeks later than other white varieties to add richness, then gently pressed without destemming. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with selected yeasts. The controlled temperature prolongs fermentation and promotes aroma extraction.
Ageing
Seventy-five per cent of the wine matures in stainless-steel tanks; the remaining 25% spends 11 months in Slavonian oak barrels. It then rests for a further six months after bottling.

Open the bottle a few minutes before serving.
Label / history
The name comes from Tunina, a diminutive of Antonia and the name of the first owner of the land on which the Jermann winery was built. It also refers to another Tunina, an eighteenth-century servant in a wealthy Venetian household who became Casanova’s only lover from a non-aristocratic background. Silvio Jermann dedicated the wine to her.
Gambero Rosso has named the wine “Wine of the Year” several times. In 1998, it received its first “Wine Oscar” (Oscar del Vino) from the Italian Sommelier Association (A.I.S.). In 2008, the British magazine Decanter included it among the 50 greatest wines of Italy.
