About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from hillside vineyards in Valpolicella, on soils rich in clay and limestone. The same plots also supply grapes for Amarone.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September. The wine undergoes a second fermentation on the grape skins remaining from Amarone production.
Tasting profile
Elegant and refined, with an expressive profile marked by red fruit and spice.
Vintage notes
The 2016 winter in Veneto was warmer than average and almost entirely dry. A cold, rainy period began in early April, and below-average temperatures persisted until mid-May. Budbreak occurred early, during the first half of April, while flowering took place at the customary time in mid-to-late May. Veraison extended from late July through the first week of August. Despite heavy September rainfall, higher temperatures and ideal ventilation lowered humidity, allowing the grapes to remain healthy and reach excellent ripeness. The vintage combined ripeness and concentration with good acidity and fine tannin structure.
