About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Rocca di Neto and Casabona in Calabria. The vineyards have clayey, calcareous soils and are trained to spurred cordon at 5,000 vines per hectare. Yield is 90 quintals of grapes and 65 hectolitres of wine per hectare.
Grapes
100% Gaglioppo.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in the final ten-day period of September. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel with a short maceration of three to five days.
Ageing
The wine matures in stainless steel and spends several months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
An approachable, fruit-forward red with a fresh character. The short maceration emphasizes immediacy and fruit rather than a heavily extracted structure. The profile of Gaglioppo includes small red berries, sour cherries, dried flowers and liquorice.
Serving and pairing
The recommended drinking window is one to three years, though youthful drinking is preferred to retain the wine’s fresh fruit expression.
