About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow on the hills of Friuli in marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin. They are trained mainly using the Guyot system.
Grapes
Merlot, a variety that has long been established in Friuli and produces floral wines with balsamic and spicy nuances on the region’s hills.
Vinification
Healthy, fully ripe grapes are picked by hand into small crates to protect the berries. After careful destemming, the fruit is crushed. Fermentation and skin maceration take place at controlled temperatures in stainless-steel vessels.
Ageing
The wine matures in stainless steel and small French-oak barrels. After bottling, it continues ageing in temperature-controlled cellars.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red with violet highlights. The vibrant, elegant bouquet combines redcurrant, blueberry and gooseberry with leather, blonde tobacco, wild mint and sage. Undergrowth, fern and pine mingle with liquorice, white pepper and a persistent trail of fresh and sweet spices. The palate is fresh, enveloping and juicy, opening with softness and refinement before revealing elegant tannins and succulent fruit. Pomegranate, sour cherry and blood orange carry the wine into a long, fruit-and-spice finish.
