About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit grows on the sunny hills of Montalcino at 250 metres. The medium-textured soils contain a noticeable proportion of gravel, contributing concentration, character and a subtle mineral quality.
Grapes
Sangiovese forms the majority of the blend, complemented by a small proportion of Merlot for softness and depth.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness in late September and early October, then carefully destemmed and gently crushed. Skin contact lasts around 20 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a moderately controlled environment to promote an even process.
Ageing
The wine matures for 16 months in Slavonian oak barrels and, in part, French barriques, followed by eight months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Concentrated and complex, with subtle minerality, softness and depth. It is elegant, balanced and lively, with a velvety texture and layered flavours.
