About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Trebbiano is grown organically in Central Apulia, inland from the Adriatic Sea, on the plateau known as the Altopiano delle Murge, or simply Murgia, where the small town of Sammichele di Bari sits. The vineyards lie 280 m above sea level on rocky limestone soils, which give the grapes their distinctive acidity and minerality.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. About 30% of the crop is macerated on the skins; the rest is pressed directly. Fermentation is spontaneous, in stainless steel tanks, with no added sulfites.
Ageing
The wine ages for 6 months in steel tanks. It is bottled without fining, filtration or added sulfur.
Tasting profile
Simple, fresh and mineral, with excellent acidity. The wine may seem shy at first, but it quickly shows a direct, distinctive character. Its low alcohol makes it easy to drink.
Label / history
It belongs to the basic vini cattivi range of Masseria La Cattiva.
