About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Aglianico grows at Masseria La Cattiva's vineyard in Central Puglia, far from the Adriatic Sea and high on the plateau known as the Altopiano delle Murge, or Murgia, where the small town of Sammichele di Bari stands. The Trebbiano comes from the vineyard of Indigeno in Ortona. Each variety is presented as a symbol of its own terroir on Italy's eastern coast.
Vinification
All the grapes go into a tank as whole bunches for a week of carbonic maceration. They are then pressed, and fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages in stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
An unusual blend of two varieties, with a burst of wild Adriatic energy.
Label / history
The wine belongs to the vini cattivissimi experimental collection. It grew out of a collaboration with Indigeno, an Abruzzo winery owned by friends of Masseria La Cattiva. The red grapes are Masseria La Cattiva's own and the white grapes are Indigeno's.
