About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in Maremma, Tuscany. Morisfarms has 70 hectares of vineyards on mineral-rich clay soils.

Grapes

Sangiovese is supplemented by a small proportion of Petit Verdot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in cement vats, with 15 days of maceration and twice-daily pump-overs.

Ageing

The wine rests in stainless-steel tanks for three months before bottling.

Label / history

Mandriolo was first released in 2008. Its name and label refer to the butteri, Maremma’s traditional cowboys: mandriolo is their word for an animal pen.
