About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vines grow in Gries on the outskirts of Bolzano, at 250 metres above sea level. Sandy, river-derived alluvial soils are marked by porphyry. The enclosed Bolzano basin retains heat, producing a Mediterranean climate with notably hot summers.

Grapes

100% Lagrein.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks with gentle pumping over.

Ageing

The wine spends 12 months in barriques and another year in bottle.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red with good density. Maraschino cherry and juniper lead the nose, followed by spice and undergrowth. The palate is delicate, fresh and elegant, with a juicy texture and a persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18 °C with mustard-seasoned guinea fowl or tournedos Rossini. Store in a cool place at 10–13 °C and at no less than 60% humidity.
