About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Lagrein vines grow in Gries on the outskirts of Bolzano, at 250 m. Sandy alluvial soils marked by porphyry lie within the enclosed Bolzano basin, which retains heat. The Mediterranean climate is distinguished by southern warmth and very hot summers.

Grapes

100% Lagrein.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks with gentle pumping over, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Seven months in 40 hl wooden barrels.

Tasting profile

Dense ruby red with notable depth. The nose combines maraschino cherry, blackberry and pepper leaf, with liquorice emerging toward the finish. The palate is dense and fresh, supported by savoury tannins and returning balsamic nuances.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18 °C with roast lamb and potatoes or friccò all’eugubina. Store at 10–13 °C in a cool place with at least 60% humidity.
