About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The selected fruit is grown in Sicily. Consistent sunshine and moderate rainfall create a Mediterranean climate that limits rot and mould. Coastal breezes moderate temperature swings, helping the grapes ripen while preserving acidity.
Grapes
The wine is produced from a selection of Grillo grapes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified using a traditional white-wine method. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the fruity character.
Tasting profile
The nose is pleasantly fruity, while the palate is fresh and easy-drinking.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and with seafood, fried fish, white-meat dishes, pizza and salads.
Vintage notes
The 2018 season in Sicily was generally favourable but presented several challenges. Heavy rain fell in June, followed by rising temperatures in early July that reached 35 °C. Abundant rainfall and cooler temperatures, particularly at night, arrived in early August and caused small outbreaks of rot. Clear, dry and warmer days in September, together with an optimal amount of rainfall, allowed the crop to resume even ripening. Harvest took place in extremely rainy conditions. Yields were below normal, and the resulting wines had lower alcohol and higher acidity.
