Palazzola

About

Palazzola is a winery in Umbria, Italy.

History, winemaking, wines and news for this producer are being prepared. Meanwhile, visit the official website.

Terroir

The winery stands at Vocabolo Vascigliano in the commune of Stroncone, a few kilometres from Terni. Its surrounding vineyards occupy a gentle hillside crowned by the ruins of an ancient medieval tower.

A constant south-easterly breeze crosses the site, drying the vines and helping to maintain healthy vineyard conditions. Climate, position and especially soil are regarded as decisive influences on grape ripening.

Most documented production sites are at 300 m above sea level. Sites used within the passito range reach 350 m, including production areas identified in Vascigliano di Stroncone and across the communes of Stroncone and Narni. The soils are consistently described as clayey and rich in coarse mineral material.

Winemaking

Metodo Classico–AncestraleThe sparkling collection is presented as traditional/classic-method ancestral sparkling wine.

Production is divided into four principal categories: sparkling wines, white wines, red wines and passito wines. The sparkling collection is identified as Spumanti metodo tradizionale classico ancestrale, combining traditional/classic-method terminology with the estate’s description of the wines as ancestral-method sparkling wines.

Philosophy

Respect for the territory is the estate’s declared point of departure. Its approach treats climate, hillside position and, above all, soil as the forces that influence and characterize grape ripening. The objective is to produce grapes with a distinct identity tied to a single harvest, preserving the individuality of each vintage rather than treating successive years as interchangeable.
