About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the municipality of Petrosino, in the province of Trapani on Sicily’s western coast, 800 m from the sea. Cool sea breezes contribute freshness to the grapes’ flavour and aroma. The local “red soils” consist mainly of limestone and sandstone. The Mediterranean climate brings mild winters, limited rainfall, and very hot, windy summers.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the second half of August, carefully sorted at the winery, and gently pressed. A long fermentation follows in temperature-controlled steel vats.
Ageing
The wine matures for four months in stainless steel tanks.
Label / history
The name Il Salinaro refers to the salt pans along the coast.
