About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

SYRAH comes from the estate’s oldest vines, planted in 1992. The old root systems reach deeply into the soil. The vineyards are cultivated organically without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and the same organic principles continue in the cellar. Production is deliberately very limited.

Grapes

100% Syrah. The variety was initially planted as a blending partner for Sangiovese, but its distinct character led to separate, single-varietal vinification.

Vinification

The grapes are carefully harvested by hand at the beginning of October, once full physiological ripeness has been achieved. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks with an 18-day maceration intended to draw out the spicy aromatic character.

Ageing

The wine matures for 16 months in used barriques, supporting its structure without obscuring the delicate pepper notes. It is bottled in June.

Technical data

IGT Rosso Toscana. Certified organic. The 2023 current release has 14.0% alcohol, with production limited to approximately 1,500 bottles.

Tasting profile

Elegant and refined, with a delicate aromatic profile led by white pepper. The palate retains the variety’s characteristic spiciness while showing a clear relationship to the estate’s other wines, followed by a subtly smoky finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with hearty meats, classic pasta or fine cheeses. It is also presented as a wine for long conversations and intimate special evenings. Recommended drinking window: now through 2032.

Label / history

The Syrah vines were originally intended to supply a blending component for Sangiovese. Their individual character persuaded the estate to vinify the variety separately, and the resulting small-production wine developed a following as a collector’s bottling.
