About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The 2021 fruit was grown at approximately 480 m a.s.l. Vines are trained to spurred cordon and Guyot. The vineyards were certified organic; natural manure was used to sustain soil vitality, plant-strengthening treatments supported natural defences, and cover crops were employed only when needed.
Grapes
Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, with Cabernet Sauvignon shaping the wine’s structure and intensity and Sangiovese contributing freshness and tension. Exact proportions are not specified.
Vinification
For 2021, the two varieties were harvested and vinified separately in truncated vats. Fermentation was conducted at a low maximum temperature of 22–23°C and followed by an extended maceration.
Ageing
The Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon components were blended after harvest and matured for 12 months in 225 L French oak barriques before bottling.
Tasting profile
A firm, direct red balancing power and restraint. Cabernet Sauvignon provides depth and structure, while Sangiovese supplies freshness and tension. The resulting style emphasizes balance, depth and versatility.
Vintage notes
The 2021 growing season began with a cold winter and spring, delaying budbreak. Abundant rain during the growing season helped the vines reach balance and accumulate polyphenols. Strong day–night temperature shifts in September and October enhanced the phenolic character of the individual vineyards.
