About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Madre takes its name from the estate’s oldest plot, recorded in the Registry of the Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1835.
Grapes
A red blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The two varieties are presented as equal partners: Sangiovese supplies the energy associated with the estate’s land, while Cabernet Sauvignon contributes a broader, more enveloping structure. Exact proportions are not specified.
Tasting profile
Madre combines energy with breadth and structure. Its style is sober and linear, using the dialogue between Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon to explore a less traditional expression of the estate.
Label / history
Conceived outside the estate’s traditional Brunello framework, Madre is intended to explore the boundaries of the Poggio Antico style while remaining anchored in its restrained character. Its name refers to the historic Madre plot.
