Vineyard and terroir

The 2 ha vineyard lies at Loc. Spiaggiole, Montiano di Magliano in Toscana, in the province of Grosseto. It has a south-western exposure and an average altitude of 200 m. The medium-textured soil is of volcanic origin. The vines are 19 years old and planted at 5,000 vines per hectare; they are Guyot-trained and yield an average of 1 kg per vine.

100% Petit Verdot.

Vinification

Harvest takes place from the middle to the end of September. Maceration lasts approximately 20 days at about 25°C, while malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures for at least six months in tonneaux, then spends three months in stainless steel and a further three months in bottle.

Technical data

Annual production is approximately 2,500 bottles.

Tasting profile

Red with violet reflections. The nose is intense and complex, combining vinous and spicy notes with blackberry and blueberry. The palate has substantial structure and freshness, with lively tannins integrated into the wine’s extractive body.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C with red meats, mature cheeses, roasts or mixed grills.
