About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the Spiaggiole and Poggio Maestrino vineyards, covering 13.5 ha in the first hills inland from the Maremma coast. Facing the Argentario and Talamone promontories, the site overlooks the coast at an average elevation of 200 m. Exposure is east and west. Deep, medium-textured volcanic soil contributes structure and fruit.

The ten-year-old vines are planted at 5,000 vines per hectare and spur-pruned. Average yield is 1.5 kg per vine.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

Harvest takes place during the second half of September. Maceration lasts 10–12 days at approximately 28°C, and malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel.

Ageing

Maturation takes place in stainless steel, followed by at least six months in bottle.

Technical data

Annual production is approximately 60,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Intense violet red. The aroma is marked by ripe cherry and freshly cut fruit. The palate is elegant, with vibrant tannins balanced by a ripe, sun-filled finish. Freshness carries through the lingering aftertaste.
