Label / history
Cantina Puianello was founded in 1938 by five winemaking families who joined forces to produce classic wines from Emilia-Romagna. Further members joined the cooperative over time, and its vineyards grew to 300 ha, 80% of them on hillsides. Most of the Emilia wine region lies on the Po River Valley plain, but some of its best vineyards are in the Apennine foothills, close to the border with Tuscany. In 2005, after a merger with Coviolo, the cooperative had 398 members and 436 ha of vineyards. In 2012 it carried out a major renovation of the winery and upgraded its equipment.
