The Lambrusco Grasparossa is grown in the hills of Emilia-Romagna, where the variety has been cultivated since 1880, mainly on dolomitic limestone soils.

Label / history
Castello del Monte takes its name from Emperor Frederick II’s castle, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
Cantina Puianello was founded in 1938 by five winemaking families. As new members joined, the cooperative’s vineyards expanded to 300 ha, 80% of them on mountain slopes. Following a merger with Coviolo, it had 398 members and 436 ha of vineyards in 2005. The winery underwent a major renovation and equipment upgrade in 2012.
