About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from Emilia-Romagna. Malvasia grapes naturally contain fairly high levels of sugar. Cantina Puianello's vineyards are largely on mountain slopes, in the foothills of the Apennines near the border with Tuscany, although most of the Emilia wine region lies on the plain of the Po River valley.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested when they reach optimal ripeness. The wine is made using traditional vinification methods. It contains 30–40 g/L of sugar.
Tasting profile
A refined semi-sweet white wine.
Serving and pairing
Suited to serving as an aperitif, or with fish dishes, fruit or desserts.
Label / history
Cantina Puianello was founded in 1938 by five winemaking families who joined forces to produce the classic wines of Emilia-Romagna. New members joined the cooperative over time, and its vineyards grew to 300 ha, 80% of them on mountain slopes. After a merger with Coviolo in 2005, the cooperative had 398 members and 436 hectares of vineyards. In 2012 it carried out a major renovation of the winery and upgraded its equipment. Many of the company's Lambrusco wines have repeatedly won prizes at the "Vinitaly" competition in Italy.
