About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine originates in the Langhe. Agriculture is managed sustainably with the aim of reducing fungicide use.
Vinification
The grapes undergo gentle pressing for white-wine production. Part of the must is transferred to barrels and the rest to cement egg vats. Malolactic fermentation remains incomplete. The base wine is a cuvée of at least four vintages and undergoes Traditional Method secondary fermentation in bottle.
Ageing
The wine remains in bottle on its lees for at least eight years. During this period, it is exposed to a measured and controlled musical environment—both in duration and intensity—using a composition selected by Ezio Bosso to influence yeast activity. Disgorgement includes the addition of liqueur, followed by about six further months of bottle ageing before release.
Technical data
Non-vintage V.S.Q. Traditional Method. Available in 0.75 L and 1.5 L bottles. The technical data represent averages across several years and may vary between releases.
Tasting profile
Fine, abundant and persistent bubbles rise at a moderate pace through a lively wine with a subtly pale-pink hue. The nose is elegant and full in intensity, led by yellow peach, redcurrant and raspberry. Subtle red flowers and a mature, integrated yeast note add depth, while blood-orange peel brings a fresh citrus accent.
Crisp and dry on the palate, it is driven by red fruit, particularly redcurrant. Pronounced salinity accompanies a chalky, powdery texture and an almost tannic sensation that adds structure and substance. Freshness and softness remain naturally balanced through a harmonious, persistent finish.
Label / history
First produced in 2008, DOOR 185th grew from the friendship and collaboration between Rodolfo Migliorini and musician Ezio Bosso. Bosso selected a composition conceived as a “symphony for wine” for use during refermentation and maturation. The name identifies the result of their joint project.
