About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is drawn from several Podere Rocche dei Manzoni vineyards, all situated in Monforte d’Alba (CN). The vines are trained to Guyot at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare. Sustainable farming is directed toward reducing fungicide use, and yields are 45–50 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature with the must in contact with the skins. Lots from the different vineyards are selected in the cellar before the final blend is assembled.
Ageing
Approximately 30 months in small oak barrels.
Technical data
Vintage-dated wine. The expected cellaring life is 25–30 years. The current technical sheet gives 0.75 L and 1.5 L formats, while the product page additionally includes 0.375 L.
Tasting profile
Bright, clear carmine red with a healthy, vibrant appearance. The refined and precise bouquet integrates fruit and flowers: fruit preserved in alcohol is joined by violet, geranium and cyclamen, followed by lightly toasted wood, dried fruit, hazelnut skin and cinnamon. A measured balsamic quality runs through the aromatic profile.
The palate is elegant, focused and vertical. Its direct tannic structure is balanced by well-integrated alcohol and an equilibrium between firmness and softness. Persistent fruit and flowers rest on a subtly bitter foundation. The texture is harmonious and caressing, finishing with a talc-like dryness, rhubarb and dry tannin. The finish is long, and the wine is already approachable.
