About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Nebbiolo and Barbera are harvested at peak ripeness during the misty final phase of the harvest season. The vineyards lie below 800 m on soils combining clay, limestone and silica. Yield is 10 tonnes of grapes per hectare, equivalent to 70 hl of wine.
Grapes
60% Nebbiolo and 40% Barbera.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the first ten days of October. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place at controlled temperature using innovative techniques.
Ageing
After the final racking, the wine spends at least six months in French oak barriques and at least two months in bottle before release. The bottle maturation contributes softness and fruit expression.
Technical data
Langhe Rosso DOC. Alcohol: 14% vol.
Tasting profile
A complex aromatic profile brings together cherry and redcurrant with blueberry and other dark woodland fruit. Oak maturation contributes spice. The palate is broad and soft, with pleasant tannins and a faint, characteristic bitter note on the finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20 °C with red meat, game or strongly flavoured cheeses.
Label / history
“Brume” means “mist” and evokes the fog that envelops the vineyards on the coolest days toward the end of harvest.
