About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from historic, organically cultivated vineyards at Sansonina in Peschiera del Garda, on the southern side of Lake Garda. The technical sheet gives an average vine age of around 60 years, while the wine page describes the vines as more than 65 years old. The vineyards lie at an average altitude of 80 metres above sea level on chalky, clayey and silty soils. The vines are Guyot trained, carry eight to ten buds and yield 80 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
100% Trebbiano di Lugana.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and carefully selected before crushing. The must undergoes cold static clarification to protect freshness and primary aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature for approximately 10–12 days.
Ageing
Six months in stainless steel are followed by one month in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Intense straw yellow with golden reflections. The broad, fresh bouquet combines white flowers with fresh apple, pear and pineapple, tropical notes and delicate citrus accents. The palate is full and harmonious yet delicate, with good structure, brightness, savoury minerality and balance. A fresh, mineral finish is long and persistent.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 9–10°C. Pair with delicate starters, lavaret or pike in sauce, raw shellfish dressed with the estate’s Lake Garda olive oil, or fresh cow’s-milk cheeses such as ricotta, robiola and stracchino.
