About this wine

Grapes

Gran Galateo is made entirely from Sangiovese and conceived as a tribute to Tuscany's traditional native grape varieties. The estate's commitment to varieties cultivated locally for centuries shapes the wine's identity.

Vinification

The wine ferments in steel tanks for 20 days.

Ageing

Maturation takes place for 6 months in small French oak barrels, followed by a further 6 months in bottle. The measured oak influence contributes a distinct yet restrained woody character.

Technical data

  • Classification: IGT (Typical Geographical Indication)
  • Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese
  • Alcohol: 13.0% vol.
  • Colour: ruby red, described more broadly as intense red with bright violet highlights

Tasting profile

The palate is enveloping, dry and warm, with a light tannic presence held in balance. Subtle wood notes lead into a persistent, pleasant finish.

Serving and pairing

Pair with traditional Tuscan dishes, soups and red meat.

Label / history

Gran Galateo celebrates Sangiovese and the estate's long-standing emphasis on native Tuscan varieties. Its style combines traditional character with a clearly defined personality, using a light touch of wood rather than a dominant oak imprint.
